The Coming of Lord Rollo 1758

The Ile Saint-Jean Campaign was a series of British military operations in late 1758, during the French and Indian War. Its purpose was to deport the Acadians that either lived on Ile Saint-Jean (present-day Prince Edward Island) or had taken refuge there from earlier deportation operations.
This window depicts Lieutenant-Colonel Andrew Rollo on his way to take possession of Ile Saint-Jean, backed by his force of 500 British soldiers.
The percentage of deported Acadians that died during this campaign made it the deadliest of all the campaigns during the Expulsion (1755-1762). The total number of Acadians deported during this campaign was second only to the campaign of 1755.
